Baby Auckland Buried Nearly 115 Years After Death as Mystery Remains Unsolved
The skeletal remains of a baby boy, found wrapped in a 1910 newspaper with twine around his neck under floorboards in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, have been buried at a moving ceremony. Despite extensive investigation including DNA testing, police have been unable to identify the child or establish how he died. The baby, now named Baby Auckland by the community, was discovered by a builder in July 2024 and is believed to have been alive in 1910 based on the newspaper date.
