Ancient scroll burnt by Vesuvius eruption virtually unwrapped and read with AI
Researchers used AI to virtually unwrap and read 20 columns of text from a 2,000-year-old Herculaneum scroll, PHerc 1667, burnt by Mount Vesuvius. The text discusses Stoic philosophy, possibly by Chrysippus, and is one of the oldest in the collection, offering new insights into ancient thought.
