As drivers continue to raise objections to Formula 1's new electrical power era, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has suggested a return to V8 power.
Formula One chiefs have agreed to rule changes following severe criticism of new hybrid power regulations that led Max Verstappen to threaten a 2027 break. The regulations required drivers to manage battery usage, slowing qualifying laps, and use boost buttons for overtaking. Verstappen called the racing "a joke" after the Chinese Grand Prix. Following an online meeting between F1, FIA, and team principals, tweaks will be implemented at the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, ending a five-week break caused by cancelled Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races due to the Middle East conflict.
