South Korea and China met to discuss ways to curb illegal fishing and strengthen maritime order, reviewing upcoming changes to their respective fisheries laws and agreeing to enhance cooperation.

South Korea will raise the maximum fine for illegal fishing in its exclusive economic zone to 1.5 billion won (US$1 million) from 0.3 billion won, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said Thursday.
