The High Court ruled in favour of the university on most grounds, including upholding concerns about bias in the regulator's decision-making process. Mrs Justice Lieven found that the OfS had "closed its mind" to anything that would not lead to finding a failure to uphold free speech. The case did not consider what happened to Professor Kathleen Stock, who left Sussex after protests over her views on gender.
