Lawyers for convicted Bosnian Serb war criminal Ratko Mladic, 84, are seeking his release from a UN detention facility in The Hague on medical grounds, saying he suffered a suspected stroke and faces high risk of imminent death. Republika Srpska states all conditions have been met for former Bosnian Serb Army commander General Ratko Mladic to be released from The Hague prison for medical treatment in Serbia. Mladic, sentenced to life in 2017 for genocide and war crimes, suffered a stroke on April 15 and has been bedridden for 18 months. His defense team filed an urgent release request on April 24.
