Canada tightens financial checks for study permit applicants

Canada has updated its study permit instructions, effective July 24, 2026, requiring immigration officers to scrutinize both the amount and source of applicants' funds more closely. While the minimum financial requirement remains unchanged, officers can now request additional financial and employment documents to verify genuine student status and financial self-sufficiency.
