AAP Accuses BJP of Treating Politicians as Disposable Items

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of treating politicians like disposable items, citing the examples of Sunil Jakhar and Ravneet Singh Bittu. Senior AAP leader Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that the BJP uses leaders from other parties for short-term gains and then marginalizes them.

Cheema stated that the BJP has reduced politics to a marketplace where loyalty and ideology are traded for power. He claimed that the BJP lures opposition leaders to create a false narrative of growth but discards them once their usefulness expires.

The BJP recently announced its Rajya Sabha candidates, excluding Ravneet Singh Bittu, whose term ends on June 21. Bittu had expressed his desire to contest the Punjab elections next year. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted by saying Bittu would soon lose his ministerial berth and Rajya Sabha seat.

Cheema also alleged that the BJP has no respect for the mandate of the people and systematically targets opposition leaders. He claimed that leaders like Bittu and Jakhar have compromised Punjab's interests by joining the BJP.

The AAP leader asserted that despite the BJP's efforts, the people of Punjab can see through its desperate attempts to gain a foothold in the state and will not be misled by the use of 'imported faces' from other parties.
