New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reduced his security detail and downsized the number of vehicles in his convoy, several Union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states cut the size of their security convoys to set an example for fuel conservation.
Following the PM's lead, Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh also reduced their convoy fleets by more than half. Union jal shakti minister CR Paatil voluntarily decided to stop using pilot and escort vehicles. Similar steps have been taken by his Cabinet colleagues Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jitendra Singh and others.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath directed an immediate 50% reduction in the number of vehicles accompanying him and his ministers. Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav announced that he would use a minimum number of vehicles in his convoy and asked his ministerial colleagues to do the same.
