A fresh public clash between Candace Owens and Andrew Kolvet has added another chapter to the growing dispute over the legacy of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The argument unfolded on X during a sensitive period, with legal proceedings involving Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk in September 2025, continuing to draw attention. What began as a disagreement over Kirk’s relationship with Owens quickly escalated into personal attacks, with Owens accusing Kolvet of lying about her friendship with Kirk and bluntly telling him, “You are a CLOWN.” The exchange has once again exposed deep divisions within conservative circles.

The latest row started after Kolvet, a Turning Point USA spokesman and producer for The Charlie Kirk Show, suggested that Kirk was simply finding ways to “placate” Owens during their conversations. According to Owens, that explanation contradicted earlier claims from critics who had argued that Kirk barely spoke with her. In a lengthy response on X, Owens pushed back hard. She wrote: “First it was ‘Charlie never spoke to her! He was afraid!’ Now it’s ‘okay they spoke and texted often but Charlie was being fake and trying to placate her.’” She then pointed to personal moments she shared with Kirk, saying he sent her photos after the births of his children and reached out during difficult family situations. Owens wrote: “So, to be clear, Charlie sent me pictures of him and his son and daughter in the hospital after birth because he was looking for things to placate me on?” She continued: “All of that personal stuff to simply placate me? You are a CLOWN.” The conservative commentator also accused Kolvet of damaging Kirk’s reputation. “You tried, but completely failed to accomplish anything today beyond exposing yourself as a routine liar who gleefully perverts Charlie’s legacy to serve your own financial interests,” she wrote. Owens ended her message with a direct defense of her bond with Kirk: “Charlie and me were ALWAYS friends and we never stopped speaking and we always had each other’s backs. You are powerless to undo that.”

The disagreement goes beyond one social media exchange. Since Kirk’s death, Owens has repeatedly argued that she remained close to him and has cited private messages, videos and public comments as proof. On the other side, Kolvet and several TPUSA supporters have questioned Owens’ portrayal of that relationship. Critics have accused her of using Kirk’s death and the surrounding controversy to promote theories about what happened and to keep attention on the story. Some have also pointed to past disagreements between Owens and figures within the organization. The debate has now expanded into larger arguments about loyalty, donor influence, Israel-related issues and the future direction of TPUSA after Kirk’s death. While Owens says she is defending what she believes was Kirk’s true position and legacy, her critics argue that she is creating further division inside the conservative movement. For now, neither side appears willing to step back. As legal proceedings connected to Robinson’s case continue, the battle over Charlie Kirk’s memory remains just as heated online as it is politically.
