L'essentiel

  • Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims its Aerospace Force used cruise missiles to destroy Amazon's central data infrastructure and target US air defense systems in Bahrain.
  • The alleged attack, unconfirmed by US or Bahraini officials, comes amid ongoing military confrontations between Iran and the US.

Pourquoi c'est important

The reported strikes follow ten consecutive days of direct military confrontations between Iran and the US, despite diplomatic efforts. Iran's IRGC claims the attack was in response to a US military aggression against civilian facilities in Darkhovin.

Taille de police

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed on Tuesday that its Aerospace Force targeted and "destroyed" the central data infrastructure of the US company Amazon in Bahrain using several cruise missiles.

The IRGC also said in a statement released by its public relations office that "US air defence systems and radar installations in the Bahraini areas of Muharraq and Riffa were also targeted" in the attack.

Bahraini and US officials, as well as Amazon, have not yet responded to the claim.

The reported strikes come as direct military confrontations between Iran and the US have continued for the tenth consecutive day despite diplomatic efforts and exchanges of messages between the two sides.

As the US has intensified its attacks on Iranian infrastructure, Tehran has warned that if such attacks continue, it will target facilities and infrastructure in regional countries that are made available to or used by US forces.

US President Donald Trump has vowed to make Iran pay “many times over” for the recent deaths of three US soldiers in Jordan and Iraq.

In the same statement, the IRGC said the attack was carried out in response to what it described as "yesterday's US military aggression against the under-construction, civilian facilities in Darkhovin."

At the same time, Iran's Permanent Mission to the International Organisations in Vienna issued a statement calling on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Security Council to condemn the US attack on the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear power plant.

The IAEA has also said it is reviewing reports of the attack but has not yet issued an independent assessment of the incident.

Questions ouvertes

  • Have Bahraini or US officials confirmed the IRGC's claims?
  • What is the extent of the alleged damage to Amazon's infrastructure?
  • What was the nature of the alleged US attack on Darkhovin?
