Italian Open Match Halted Due to Smoke from Inter Milan's Coppa Italia Celebrations

A match at the Italian Open was halted for almost 20 minutes due to smoke from fireworks celebrating Inter Milan's Coppa Italia triumph at the nearby Stadio Olimpico. Italian Luciano Darderi eventually won against Spaniard Rafael Jodar to reach the semi-finals after 2am local time at Foro Italico in Rome. Jodar, 19, was leading 6-5 in the first set when smoke from celebrations of Inter's 2-0 win over Lazio, about 500 metres away, reduced visibility and disrupted the electronic line-calling system, prompting the pause.
