Ronald Arthur Claren Cora, 37, did not appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court when the matter was mentioned today.
Mr Cora has been charged with the domestic violence murder of his 27-year-old former partner, who was found unresponsive at his Slacks Creek home by emergency services just after 12:30am yesterday.
Police said they attempted CPR but the Woody Point woman could not be revived.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said police received a phone call from a man reporting that a woman was unresponsive at his address.
He said police arrived at the location "within minutes".
Police said the reason for the woman being in the house would be part of the investigation, and confirmed she had contacted police in the days before her death.
A small group of the alleged victim's friends attended court for the appearance on Thursday.
Mr Cora did not make a bail application.
The matter will return to Beenleigh Magistrates Court later this month, when his lawyer is expected to apply for a brief of evidence.
