Palantir touts record expansion and ‘battlefield’ AI value
Pourquoi c'est important
Palantir's AI tools are integral to Western military and industrial power, with applications in target identification and data analysis for defense and intelligence sectors.
Palantir Technologies reported a blowout first quarter, with revenue rising 85% year-on-year to $1.63 billion, driven by strong growth in both its US commercial and government sectors. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to up to $7.66 billion, implying 71% annual growth. CEO Alex Karp emphasized the company’s role in Western military and industrial power, stating that nearly all valuable AI workflows, especially on the battlefield, are built on Palantir. Palantir’s software, including Gotham and MOSAIC, is used by the US, UK, Israel, and Ukraine for target identification and data analysis. The earnings report follows criticism of the company’s manifesto on technofascism and the inevitability of AI weapons.
The US acknowledged using Palantir’s programs to select targets in the war against Iran, with final decisions made by humans. Abroad, Palantir’s technology supports the UK Defense Ministry, Israel Defense Forces, and the Ukrainian military.
Critics labeled the company’s 22-point manifesto a blueprint for technofascism, arguing it promotes Silicon Valley’s involvement in national defense and the inevitability of AI weapons.
