Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday landed in the Netherlands as part of the second leg of his five-nation tour. Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Netherlands' rear admiral Ludger Brummelaar, adjutant-general and chief of the military household of His Majesty the King, Dutch foreign minister Tom Berendsen and Indian ambassador to the Netherlands Kumar Tuhin, along with other senior officials of the Dutch government. In a social media post on X, the Prime Minister said that he would be meeting Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and would call on King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. "Landed in Amsterdam. This visit to the Netherlands comes at a time when the India-EU Free Trade Agreement has given a major impetus to trade and investment linkages," PM Modi said. "It offers an opportunity to deepen relations in areas like semiconductors, water, clean energy and more. Will be holding talks with Prime Minister Rob Jetten and will be calling on Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. I also look forward to addressing a community programme on the morning of the 16th," he added.

What's on agenda

During the two-day visit, PM Modi will hold talks with his Dutch counterpart Rob Jetten and pay a visit to King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

The Prime Minister will also address the Indian community during an event on Saturday.

According to the ministry of foreign affairs, PM Modi will also meet with Dutch business leaders during the visit.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen the multifaceted partnership between the two countries.

"The visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the multifaceted India–Netherlands partnership and to engage with the largest Indian diaspora on mainland Europe," Jaiswal said.

India and the Netherlands have deepened ties in recent years beyond trade and investment, with growing cooperation in key sectors such as water management, agriculture and healthcare.

The Netherlands is among India’s top trade partners in Europe, with bilateral trade reaching USD 27.8 billion in 2024-25, and is also India’s fourth-largest foreign investor with cumulative FDI of USD 55.6 billion.
