Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has shared an exclusive selfie with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (June 17), following a high-level discussion on artificial intelligence (AI) technology which currently dominates the global political agenda. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Benioff expressed his admiration for PM’s perspective on digital governance. “Inspired by my G7 meetings with Prime Minister Modi discussing the role of Trust in the Era of AI,” Benioff posted, alongside the photograph which is now going viral. The Salesforce CEO is among a bunch of world’s leading tech billionaires and AI pioneers who have flown to the 52nd G7 Summit in Evian, France. Reports said that these top tech executives will address frontier AI risks, global data infrastructure and digital sovereignty.

Benioff posts photo with Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis

Benioff appears to be having fun meeting other tech CEOs and lawmakers. Benioff noted that his discussions extended to several other top-tier tech pioneers and political figures, all focused on creating a unified front for responsible tech deployment. In a separate post, he shared a selfie with Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch. “Great to be at the G7 with @demishassabis [Google DeepMind CEO], @vonderleyen [European Commission President], and @arthurmensch [Mistral AI CEO] discussing how to innovate, grow, & develop infrastructure with the fundamental basis of trusted AI platforms,” Benioff said.

Tech titans take centre stage at G7 Summit

Alongside Benioff, the exclusive lunch meeting saw attendance from Sam Altman (CEO, OpenAI), Dario Amodei (CEO, Anthropic), Aidan Gomez (CEO, Cohere) and Robin Rombach (Founder, Black Forest Labs), CNBC reported. The founders of rising international AI firms, including Japan’s Sakana and India's Sarvam. According to a press briefing from France's Élysée Palace, a key focus of the discussion was urging these exact tech firms to develop strict, built-in tools to ensure the safety and protection of minors online.

PM Modi meets global leaders

While tech executives discussed infrastructure, Modi held wide-ranging interactions with European Council Chief António Costa, Kenyan President William Ruto and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as per ANI. Meanwhile, the official G7 page posted a picture of world leaders seated at a roundtable as the G7 session took place. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was seated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's left side while US President Donald Trump was on his right side. He also met US President Donald Trump.
