The Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court has been integrating domain-specific large language models into its judicial workflow to manage increasing case volumes.

In a social media post on Tuesday, the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court said each judge in the city had handled an average of 744 cases in 2025 – up by 249 cases from the previous year.

That made Shenzhen’s judges the most efficient and productive in Guangdong, since they handled 261 cases more than the provincial average, it said.

The Shenzhen court said the AI tool – which it built in 2024 – was the first intelligent judicial assistance system in China that uses domain-specific large language models.

After two years of development, the system now covers 85 judicial procedures in civil, administrative and criminal litigation, including case filing, review, court hearings and document preparation.
