UAE Launches AI Hackathon for Smarter Government Services

The UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has partnered with 42 Abu Dhabi to launch a specialized Artificial Intelligence Hackathon. The initiative aims to create technology-driven solutions to improve government services across key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transport, and housing.

The hackathon will gather programmers, developers, entrepreneurs, and young innovators to design AI-powered tools that can streamline processes and boost efficiency. Organizers highlighted that participants will focus on practical solutions to real-world challenges facing the ministry, with an emphasis on improving service delivery, sustainability, and quality of life across the UAE.

Eng Fahad Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at MoEI, stated that the initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to innovation and advanced technologies in government operations. He emphasized the goal of harnessing local talent for smart solutions that strengthen public services and improve future readiness.

Fatima Foulathi, Acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, noted the event's role in converting ideas into working prototypes that address real challenges. She also highlighted its support for preparing a new generation of innovators and reinforcing the UAE's leadership in digital innovation.

The hackathon is part of the ministry's strategy to expand AI use in government and support the UAE's digital transformation ambitions.
