US players 'feel the buzz of crowd'
D
By David Hirst
US captain Tim Ream says home support has been vital for the team.
"The crowds have just grown and grown and we feel that buzz, that excitement and energy. It’s like playing in the UK — you have the home support, and if you’re not playing well, they're going to be a little bit irritable, and they’ll let you know.
"It's the same here, it's feeling their buzz and their energy behind us from the whistle and that’s a big thing for us in this World Cup."

Star man Pulisic ready for knockout phase

The United States national team has grown tired of hearing about its traditional shortcomings in World Cup knockout matches.
The Americans will look to change that narrative today as they attempt to win their first World Cup elimination game in 24 years when they face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the round of 32 in Santa Clara, California.
The Americans' last, and only, knockout win came on June 17, 2002, when they defeated Mexico 2-0 in the Round of 16 in South Korea.
The good news for the Americans is they should have a healthy Christian Pulisic available.
"I feel good and ready to go for tomorrow," Pulisic said yesterday.
"We understand what it means: you win, or you go home. There definitely needs to be a lot of focus and attention to detail this week," Pulisic said.
"But I think the vibe feels good. We've still kept it light, and we still are going to be ready to battle once the whistle blows."

The full-time statistics end pretty even, but they've obviously been impacted by Belgium having to chase the game for almost its entirety.

"They gave up a two-goal lead with five minutes to go.
"Credit to Belgium, I don't know how they got out of it."
Roy Keane says that Senegal somehow "found a way to lose the game".
Belgium books a date with today's next winner

So, Belgium is through to the Round of 16, where they will play the winner of today's final game between the US and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
That will take place in Seattle next Tuesday morning, Australian time.
Thoughts on that penalty call?
H
By Henry Hanson
Certainly the worst ending to such a great game, if you take that long to decide a penalty, then it's not enough to call...
- Jay
It did take a very, very long time, but the correct call was made, I reckon.
It's desperately unfortunate for Lamine Camara, who meant no malice with his clumsy challenge, but he definitely brought down Youri Tielemans as he went for the ball.

FT: Belgium through with latest winner in World Cup history

It is so, so cruel on Senegal.
The Lions of Teranga bossed so much of that game, but fall to a heart wrenching loss in extra time.
It is hard to believe that Belgium has pulled this one off.
The Red Devils looked devoid of ideas all afternoon in Seattle, and very much would have deserved to be sent packing.
But somehow, they found two late goals to force the game to extra time, with Romelu Lukaku turning home in the 86th minute and then Youri Tielemans heading home just three minutes later.
And it was Tielemans who stepped up to break Senegalese hearts with the latest goal we have ever seen at a World Cup.
He slots his penalty after a long VAR review, with referee Said Marinez consulting his monitor to determine Tielemans had been brought down illegally in the box.
All of that came after Senegal had gone ahead with two excellent goals, with Habib Diarra finishing off a sublime team move and Ismaila Sarr brilliantly getting on the end of a long ball forward.
Belgium, against all odds, through to the Round of 16.
102+11' Another chance for Senegal!

This game just won't end!
Senegal streams forward and earns a free kick just on the edge of the penalty area.
A Belgium player dived and blocked a shot with his hand.
This is surely the final chance ...
The set-piece is up and over the bar.
120+9' Senegal deep into borrowed time

And they have an opportunity to whip a delivery into the box from a set piece.
It's a terrible delivery, and half cleared by Belgium.
The Lions of Teranga are eventually able to work a better ball into the penalty area, but Thibaut Courtois collects with ease.
120' One last push for Senegal

Senegal hoofs the ball forward and it ends at the feet of Pape Matar Sarr at the edge of the penalty area.
He winds up and lashes his shot well over the bar.
