Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi claims many star Indian cricketers were unwilling to play the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup, dismissing it as a "stupid game." Modi personally urged players during India's tour of England to participate, but they preferred to rest after a long tour. He also stated that the BCCI sent a "second team" led by MS Dhoni, as senior players like Tendulkar and Dravid opted out.
