Water Tanker Driver Arrested for Allegedly Strangling Wife in Bengaluru

Bengaluru police have arrested a water tanker driver, Sharath, accused of strangling his 20-year-old wife, Anusha, following frequent domestic quarrels.

BENGALURU: A water tanker driver accused of strangling his 20-year-old wife after frequent domestic quarrels has been arrested by Bengaluru police days after allegedly confessing to the crime over a phone call and fleeing. The accused, identified as Sharath, was taken into custody after a manhunt launched by the Seshadripuram police. He is accused of killing his wife, ND Anusha, at their rented home in Malleswaram VII Cross on June 14. According to police, Sharath had called an advocate after the incident and allegedly informed him that he had killed his wife before locking the house and escaping. The advocate immediately alerted the police. Based on the address shared by the advocate, police reached the house and found it locked from the outside, with the key kept near a window. After contacting house owner Ramesh Babu, officers opened the door and found Anusha's body lying on the kitchen floor. Preliminary investigation indicated that she had been strangled to death. Police said the couple hailed from Sakleshpur in Hassan district and had been married for about a year. They had moved into the one-bedroom house around six months ago. In his complaint, house owner Ramesh Babu stated that the couple frequently quarrelled over trivial matters. Sharath worked as a driver for a water tanker company owned by a local resident, Mahadev, who had recommended the couple as tenants. Investigators suspect that a domestic dispute may have led to the murder. Further investigation is underway.
