That's where we'll leave you
J
By Jon Healy
A pretty underwhelming night for Tigers fans, but surely you're used to this by now.
It's a credit to the Warriors, meanwhile, that they've managed to win so comprehensively while being well below their best.
We've got more to come in this Jarome Luai saga this week, so stick around on ABC Sport.
And of course, we'll be back tomorrow for more live coverage.
Jarome Luai skips the press conference
J
By Jon Healy
Coach Benji Marshall and halfback Adam Doueihi are doing the press conference. Captain Jarome Luai is clearly missing this one because of all the talk about his future in the team.
"We're not gonna talk about that today. We're just gonna get through the game and process that," Marshall says.
Marshall is asked why the club has had a change of heart about Luai and sticks firm.
"I just said I'm not gonna talk about that. Happy to talk about the game, that's what I'm here for. Anything else we can talk about that at another date when we're ready to talk about that."
He's asked about Luai's performance and ...
"Our whole team can probably play better."
And as far as a confirmation from the club:
"When it comes to something being done we'll let you know. At the moment nothing's finalised or done."
Andrew Webster and James Fisher-Harris are speaking to the media
J
By Jon Healy
Andrew Webster says the team overplayed their hands at times.
"We definitely lost our way at certain times," Warriors coach Webster said.
In a bit of a backhanded compliment, Webster describes the match as good "practice" for his side.
He says the return of captain James Fisher-Harris made a massive difference.
Fish says his celebration in the face of Jarome Luai after his opening try was all love for his former Penrith teammate.
"I didn't say nothing, just a bit of laughter. We've got that brotherhood. It's nothing but love."
The silver lining for debutant Jared Haywood
J
By Jon Healy
It's another tough loss for the Tigers, but the silver lining is the debut of 19-year-old dummy half Jared Haywood.
He sprinted across the field after full-time to embrace the swathe of family and friends he had in the stands.
"It's the best feeling. All my family here, they're the reason I got here today. They're the best. Having this much support, I can't thank them enough. I'm so grateful."
From the sound of his voice, you'd never know the Tigers lost tonight.
FULL-TIME: Warriors beat the Tigers 32-6
J
By Jon Healy
The Warriors let a few opportunities slip, but do it pretty easy in the end.
Second place will remain in the New Zealanders' hands for another week at least, while the Tigers' season slips a little further into the muck.
"They weren't impressive, but it was a good win," Luke Lewis says on ABC Sport.
Benji Marshall will have a few more tough questions to answer, as will Jarome Luai in the post-match press conference.
We'll bring it to you live.
76' Bunty Afoa makes another blunder
J
By Jon Healy
The Tigers are called for a knock-on as they try to regather the short kick-off, but the Tigers challenge again.
The challenge is successful, not because they didn't knock-on but because Bunty Afoa was a good 3 metres offside off the kick-off. Good lord, how did he do that?
More gorgeous footy from the Warriors sends Sam Healey over
J
By Jon Healy
Erin Clark holds up a pass out the back for Te Maire Martin, who does superbly to poke his nose through and offload to Jacob Laban. He flies upfield and flings a pass back inside to a late-arriving Sam Healey to burst over.
70' The Warriors are up and down and back again
J
By Jon Healy
For what feels like the ninth time tonight, the Warriors make a 70-metre break, this time through Alofiana Khan-Pereira and Adam Pompey, but Pompey knocks on to end the play.
That should've been the platform for an attacking raid, but once again the chance goes begging.
66' Brutal bounce of the ball for the Tigers
J
By Jon Healy
Adam Doueihi drills a long kick from inside the 40m on the fourth tackle, catching Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad way out of position, but the angle is juuuuust off and trickles into touch in-goal.
63' Lovely hands by Terrell May
J
By Jon Healy
Taine Tuaupiki's grubber looks certain to force a dropout as Terrell May gets back to field it, but he brilliantly taps it on to Jahream Bula who gets out of the in-goal.
61' The Tigers bomb a try but win another challenge
J
By Jon Healy
Terrell May goes within centimetres of scoring, but tries to offload to Jarome Luai, who knocks it on over the dead-ball line.
Luai was touched by Ali Leiataua as he ran a support line and the bunker says it was illegal, but I honestly think that's harsh.
It looked to me like Leiataua was charging in to get involved in trying to stop May from scoring and Luai was less than half a metre away, so Leiataua had no choice but to make contact.
58' Warriors get away with one
J
By Jon Healy
It's been a hectic couple of minutes as Jahream Bula regathers a short kick-off and then the Warriors find touch with their dropout about 10.01 metres out from their line.
And it continues as Jeral Skelton breaks up an overlap down the right, then Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad fumbles out on the right wing. It's somehow called knocked back, but Taine Tuaupiki knocks on in the ensuing play. Bit of a "ball don't lie" moment there.
Disaster for the Tigers as Egan makes it two in a row
J
By Jon Healy
Jahream Bula is having a rough night and it just gets worse.
Te Maire Martin's high kick is relatively innocuous and Bula has a great looks at an uncontested leaping catch, but he knocks it on and Chanel Harris-Tavita scoops it up, dumps the ball out the back and Wayde Egan pounces to score.
There was some question about Harris-Tavita's offload and whether he knocked on into Bula, but the bunker confirms the try after a long wait.
Stunning stuff from the Warriors!
J
By Jon Healy
The defence stands up and gets the Warriors some field position at last.
They spin it left and Adam Doueihi thinks he's shut it down as he jams Te Maire Martin, but the Warriors half gets his arms free and loops a pass over the top for Adam Pompey, who unleashes Alofiana Khan-Pereira to score.
Meanwhile, Pompey's given up the kicking tee after going 1/3 and Chanel Harris-Tavita is taking the shot from the left flank.
And he nails it.
Warriors lead 20-6 inside the last half-hour.
46' Warriors jag a penalty
J
By Jon Healy
They get Alofiana Khan-Pereira on a slim overlap and he grubbers in behind.
It trickles dead, but Wyatt Raymond calls it back. Sunia Turuva took him out long after the kick, and the referee has made the right call.
42' Heamasi Makasini fumbles
J
By Jon Healy
The Warriors are bailed out as Jarome Luai's pass is too hot for Heamasi Makasini.
The Tigers were on for points there, so they really got lucky.
41' Tigers kick off and the Warriors hand it straight back to them
J
By Jon Healy
The second half is underway.
And the Warriors try to spin it right on the third tackle, but it's knocked on!
The Tigers are straight on the attack from 20 metres out.
HALF-TIME: Warriors lead the Tigers 14-6
J
By Jon Healy
Well, we've seen plenty of games of two halves, but this one was absolutely a half of two halves (quarters, you could say).
The Warriors were absolutely battering the Tigers, who were playing some of their worst football of 2026 in the opening 20 minutes, before the switch completely flipped.
Everything - defence, attack, captain's challenges, discipline - shifted the other way and suddenly the Tigers have energy and a bit of skill out there.
We could actually be in for a decent finish to this one.
Questions ouvertes
- What is Jarome Luai's future with the Wests Tigers?
- Will Benji Marshall's coaching be affected by the team's performance?
