A senior Derbyshire Police detective is facing an independent IOPC investigation over potential gross misconduct related to the alleged use of artificial intelligence to maintain decision logs.
UK Police Minister Sarah Jones stated an anti-racism commitment document gives the 'wrong impression' following the death of Henry Nowak. The document, from the National Police Chiefs' Council, is under review by the IOPC.
Henry Nowak, 18, repeatedly told police "I can't breathe" while being handcuffed after being stabbed. His killer, Vickrum Digwa, 23, lied to officers, claiming he was the victim of a racist attack. Digwa was jailed for life, but his sentence is under review for being unduly lenient. An investigation into the police response is ongoing.
