Hong Kong to Step Up Enforcement Against Coerced Shopping, Unlicensed Guides During Labour Day Golden Week
Hong Kong's tourism secretary Rosanna Law Shuk-pui announced stepped-up enforcement against coerced shopping, unlicensed tour guides and unfair sales practices during the Labour Day golden week holiday (May 1-5). The government expects 980,000 mainland travellers, a 7% increase from last year, with hotel occupancy exceeding 90%. The Travel Industry Authority will increase patrols to protect visitors and the Agriculture Department will manage crowds at countryside hotspots.
