The Indian Military Academy (IMA) commissioned its first batch of nine women officer cadets as Army officers at its 158th Passing Out Parade. President Droupadi Murmu, the reviewing officer, called it a "major milestone" for women empowerment and a step towards inspiring more women to join the Army. The ceremony also saw 515 cadets, including 34 foreign cadets, graduate.

Police in Surat, Gujarat, have arrested Vishal Salvi for allegedly murdering his 39-year-old wife Shilpa, a dietician at SMIMER Medical College and Hospital. The accused allegedly killed Shilpa on April 20 and concealed her body in a cement-filled wooden box at his old residence in Salabatpura's Kagji Chawl. The case emerged when the couple's son sent a WhatsApp letter to a relative containing a confession. Vishal had filed a missing persons report to deflect suspicion. Police are investigating whether anyone else was involved.
