South Korea launched cash assistance programs Monday for basic livelihood security recipients and vulnerable groups to alleviate financial pressures from rising oil prices linked to the Middle East conflict. Recipients will receive 550,000 won for basic welfare recipients and 450,000 won for single-parent households, with additional 50,000 won for those outside Seoul or in declining population areas. The government approved a 26.2 trillion-won extra budget bill earlier this month to fund these measures.
