Kenya's John Korir won his second straight Boston Marathon with a new course record of 2:01:52, beating Geoffrey Mutai's 2011 mark by 1 minute and 10 seconds. Compatriot Sharon Lokedi successfully defended her women's title in 2:18:51. The 29-year-old Korir, who also won the Chicago Marathon in 2024 and Valencia Marathon in December, called it a smooth race compared to last year's edition where he fell early before recovering.

Defending champion John Korir broke the Boston Marathon course record on Monday, winning in 2:01:52 — the fifth-fastest marathon of all time. The Kenyan beat Geoffrey Mutai's 2011 record of 2:03:02 by 70 seconds, breaking away from the pack at Heartbreak Hill in Newton and opening a 40-second lead. Alphonce Felix Simbu of Tanzania finished 55 seconds back, with Benson Kipruto third and Zouhair Talbi fifth in 2:03:45 — the best time ever for a U.S. runner.

Marcel Hug of Switzerland won his ninth Boston Marathon men's wheelchair title on Monday with an unofficial time of 1:16:06, missing his own course record by 33 seconds. The victory marked his fourth consecutive win, moving him into second place all-time behind Ernst van Dyk's 10 titles. Daniel Romanchuk of the US placed second, followed by Jetza Plat of the Netherlands. Eden Rainbow-Cooper of Britain won the women's wheelchair race.
