Five South Korean banking groups, led by Hana Financial Group, will provide 1 trillion won (US$680 million) in financial support for startups by 2029. The support includes 900 billion won funneled into investment funds and 100 billion won in other financial assistance, aimed at boosting productive finance and revitalizing the venture industry.
Hana Financial Group reported record first-quarter net profit of 1.21 trillion won (US$816 million), up 7.3% from a year earlier, beating analyst expectations of 1.12 trillion won. Operating income rose 11.1% to 1.65 trillion won while revenue surged 71.4% to 29 trillion won. Net interest income increased 10.2% to 2.5 trillion won, though non-interest income fell 11.9% to 584 billion won. Hana Bank posted net profit of 1.1 trillion won, up 11.2% YoY.
