
Climate Change Fuels Rise of Mosquito-Borne Diseases in Temperate Regions
Climate change is expanding the range of disease-carrying mosquitoes, like the Asian tiger mosquito, into temperate regions such as New England, increasing the risk of viruses like West Nile and Eastern equine encephalitis. While Connecticut has a statewide monitoring program, many areas, including parts of New York, lack comprehensive surveillance, hindering proactive prevention efforts.
