Victor Wembanyama Makes History as First Unanimous NBA Defensive Player of the Year
Victor Wembanyama has been named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first unanimous winner in the award's 43-year history after securing all 100 first-place votes. The 7ft 4in French center, 22, is the youngest player to win the award and the second to win it within their first three seasons, after Spurs legend David Robinson. The 2023 first overall draft pick led the league in blocks (3.1 per game) for the third straight season while averaging career highs of 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds.
