A UK police officer is under criminal investigation for allegedly using AI to create false evidence and pervert the course of justice, marking the first known case of its kind. The officer has been removed from frontline duties as Derbyshire police work with the Crown Prosecution Service.
Seven Afghan nationals have been charged with rape and child sexual abuse offences as part of an investigation into group-based child sexual exploitation in Norwich. The men, aged 20-23, allegedly committed offences between August 2023 and May 2025. An eighth suspect was arrested in Ireland.
Police have arrested a former boss at the Countess of Chester Hospital on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, as part of the ongoing Operation Duet investigation into corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter. The individual, one of three former hospital bosses arrested last June, was bailed pending further inquiries. The investigation focuses on senior leadership response to increased baby deaths at the neonatal unit where Lucy Letby worked. Letby, 36, is serving a whole-life sentence for murdering seven babies and attempting to kill seven others, and is seeking to challenge her convictions through the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
