US Utility CEOs Got 16% Pay Raise Last Year as Customers Faced 40% Bill Increases

A review by the Energy and Policy Institute reveals that CEOs of the nation's top 51 utilities received a 16% pay raise to an average of $12.3m last year, even as customers faced utility bill increases of up to 40% since 2021 and 13m power shutoffs nationwide. The analysis found 38 CEOs received raises collectively worth $82m, with American Electric Power's Bill Ferhman receiving the largest increase at $23m to $36.6m.
