Indian income tax law exempts all wedding gifts received by the bride or groom from tax, regardless of amount, donor relationship, or wedding location. Under Section 92(3) of the Income Tax Act, 2025 (formerly Section 56(2)(x) of the 1961 Act), gifts received on the occasion of marriage are fully tax-exempt even if the wedding takes place outside India.
