Advocate Samarth Singh suspended by Bar Council of India over wife's death allegations

Twisha Sharma case update: Advocate and absconding husband Samarth Singh faces immediate suspension from legal practice. The Bar Council of India took this action following serious allegations linked to the death of his wife, Twisha Sharma. Sharma died within months of their marriage in Bhopal. Singh is reportedly absconding and not cooperating with the ongoing investigation into dowry death and cruelty charges.

In the latest development in the Twisha Sharma death case, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended her absconding husband, advocate Samarth Singh, from legal practice with immediate effect over allegations linked to her death within months of their marriage, according to ANI.

The BCI said an FIR has been registered against Singh for alleged dowry death, cruelty and allied offences, and noted that the advocate was allegedly absconding and not cooperating with the investigation.

Calling the allegations “grave”, the Council said the matter adversely affected the dignity and public image of the legal profession.

“The allegations against the advocate are extremely serious in nature and have the potential to erode public confidence in the legal fraternity,” the BCI said while announcing the suspension.

The Council said the suspension would remain in force pending further proceedings in the matter. According to ANI, the case pertains to the death of Twisha Sharma within months of her marriage in Bhopal.
