Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Australia stands with the family of a five-year-old Aboriginal girl, whose body was found on the outskirts of Alice Springs last month.
The girl, referred to as Kumanjayi Little Baby for cultural reasons, went missing from Alice Springs' Old Timers/Ilyperenye town camp in late April.
Her body was found about 5 kilometres south of a crime scene in the town camp, and a 47-year-old man, Jefferson Lewis, has been charged with her murder.
Mr Albanese said he met with the girl's mother, grandfather, and grandmother in Alice Springs earlier today.
"It was mainly an opportunity just to say to the family that the nation stands with them," he said.
"They are not alone. Kumanjayi Little Baby is known throughout our nation, and indeed, throughout the world.
