"Il ne me paraît pas cohérent que la Ville de Carcassonne mobilise ses moyens (...) afin de contribuer à l'organisation d'un scrutin relevant d'un État dont les autorités entretiennent aujourd'hui des relations particulièrement dégradées avec la France", a écrit l'élu d'extrême droite dans un message publié jeudi matin sur les réseaux sociaux de la ville.
Selon la mairie, le consulat d'Algérie a sollicité la commune pour y installer des bureaux de vote destinés aux ressortissants algériens établis en France, appelés aux urnes pour les élections législatives du 2 juillet. Pour justifier sa décision, le maire cite notamment le sort de l'écrivain franco-algérien Boualem Sansal et du journaliste sportif français Christophe Gleizes, toujours détenu en Algérie.
