도당은 "그의 발언대로 당선무효가 돼 재선거가 현실화하면 재선거에 드는 수십억원의 혈세는 누가 책임질 것인가? 특히 도정 공백과 행정 혼란은 누가, 어떻게 감당할 것인가"라고 되물었다.
이어 "그 피해는 결국 고스란히 도민에게 돌아간다"며 "재선거가 치러진다면 비용은 비용대로 들어가고 전북의 시급한 현안도 뒤도 밀릴 것"이라고 지적했다.
그러면서 "더 큰 혼란과 피해를 막기 위해서라도 김 후보는 이제 결단해야 한다"며 "전북의 미래를 위해 빠른 사퇴만이 답"이라고 강조했다.
