Finnish Economist Urges PM to Cut Ties with Ukraine After Drone Incidents

STOCKHOLM, May 16. /TASS/. Finnish economist and University of Helsinki professor Tuomas Malinen called on Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo to sever all ties with Kiev and stop providing assistance following incidents involving Ukrainian drones flying through Finnish airspace.

"Understand this Petteri Orpo, when the first Ukrainian drone explodes in Finland, you need to cut all ties to Ukraine. Stop sending money and help, because then the utterly corrupted Kiev regime has become our enemy," he wrote on X.

The Yle broadcaster reported on the morning of May 15 that a drone was likely spotted over the Uusimaa region, with the administrative center in Helsinki. Flight operations at Helsinki Airport were temporarily suspended because of the drone threat. Operations have since returned to normal. Finnish President Alexander Stubb later said there was no direct military threat.

Finland has repeatedly reported sightings of drones on its territory and in its airspace. Authorities in Helsinki condemned the flights and crashes of Ukrainian drones, calling the incidents unacceptable.
