実際の徴収額は政令で定められ、現在は変更・更新6000円、永住許可1万円とされるが、改正法が成立すれば変更・更新は在留期間に応じて1万～7万円程度、永住許可は20万円程度に引き上げられる見通しだ。
ネパール人男性の場合、事業の安定性などが認められ、在留資格の更新が5年に延びた場合でも、家族全員で数十万円の出費となる見込みだ。
