민주당 당선인들은 도당과 협의를 통해 4선 정재웅 의원을 비롯해 제11대 민주당 원내대표를 맡아온 전찬성 의원, 남상규·김세종·이지영·김남희 의원 등 총 6명으로 원 구성 협상단을 꾸렸다고 11일 밝혔다.
협상단은 제12대 도의회 개원에 앞서 원내 운영 방향과 상임위원회 구성, 주요 의회 보직 배분 등 원 구성과 관련한 사항을 논의하고 국민의힘과 공식 협상에 나선다.
민주당은 이번 지방선거에서 전체 54석 가운데 24석을 확보했다.
협상단은 "도의회가 도민을 위한 민생의회로 거듭나기 위해서는 여야 간 상호 존중과 협치가 무엇보다 중요하다"며 "민심과 의석 비율을 반영한 합리적인 원 구성이 이뤄지도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
또 "새롭게 출범하는 우상호 도정이 성공적으로 안착하여 운영되도록 건전한 협력과 책임 있는 견제를 병행하는 의회 역할을 충실히 수행하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
