서 후보 선대위에 따르면 전문학 후보는 지난달 18일 성광진 대전시교육감 예비후보의 사무실을 방문해 "나는 교육감 후보 성광진을 지지합니다"라고 적힌 피켓을 들고 사진을 촬영한 뒤 유권자들이 있는 카카오톡 단체 채팅방에 올린 것으로 파악됐다.
지방교육자치법에 따라 정당의 대표자·간부 및 유급 사무직원은 특정 후보자를 지지·반대하는 등 선거에 영향을 미치게 하기 위해 선거에 관여하는 행위를 할 수 없다.
서 후보 선대위는 "정당 소속 후보자가 특정 교육감 후보를 공개적으로 지지하고 이를 유권자들에게 전파한 행위는 교육감 선거의 정치적 중립성을 심각하게 훼손한 행위"라면서 "대전경찰청은 즉각 조사에 착수하고, 불법 행위에 대해 신속하고 단호하게 조치하라"고 촉구했다.
