A fallen tree caused a power outage that led to significant disruptions on Taiwan’s High-Speed Rail (THSR) network yesterday, affecting an estimated 10,000 passengers.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 AM when a tree fell onto power lines near the Changhua Station, causing a power outage that affected train operations.
THSR said that trains were delayed by up to 40 minutes as a result of the outage. The company dispatched maintenance crews to the site to clear the tree and restore power as quickly as possible.
Services were gradually resumed by 1:30 PM, but residual delays were reported throughout the afternoon.
The THSR has apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said it would review its procedures for managing vegetation near its tracks to prevent similar incidents in the future.
