A Hong Kong secondary school principal is under investigation after a video allegedly showed him swearing at security guards during a school trip to Singapore. The school board is cooperating with the Education Bureau's inquiry.

Yazı boyutu

The manager of a Hong Kong secondary school whose principal swore at security guards during a trip with students to Singapore will investigate the incident, but said it is too early to decide whether he should face any disciplinary action.

Edmund Wong Chun-sek, a former lawmaker and school manager of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School in Tuen Mun, added that the school wanted to ensure students on the trip were not affected by the incident.

His remarks came after education authorities demanded a written report from the school following a viral video that apparently showed its principal, Lee Cheuk-hing, swearing at security guards during a school trip to Singapore.

“We, the school sponsoring body and the whole school, will cooperate with the Education Bureau in its investigation,” Wong said, adding that the incident had happened on the third day of the trip.

He said the school board did not wish to jump to conclusions as the comments were currently based on a video that was less than a minute long.

Asked whether the principal would be subject to any disciplinary action or even be terminated, Wong said it was “too early to tell”.
