高専を巡っては、愛知県や滋賀県、福岡市が地域産業を担う人材の育成に向け、新設の準備を進めている。農業高校の高専化を検討する自治体もある。コンテンツ系でも「ＣＧや高度な画像処理技術の教育には５年間かかる可能性もあり、新設を目指す動きが出てくるかもしれない」（文科省担当者）という。
また文科省は、高専の教職員の給与引き上げに向け、人件費に充てる交付金の拡充を検討。待遇改善により優秀な人材を取り込む考えだ。２０２７年度予算概算要求に前年度を上回る額を盛り込む方針だ。
