K-푸드 열풍에 힘입어 한국 참기름 수출이 올해 들어서도 증가세를 이어가고 있다.

2일 관세청에 따르면 올해 1∼4월 참기름 수출액은 614만 달러(약 92억원)로 작년 동기 대비 37.0% 증가했다. 수출 중량도 657t으로 47.6% 늘었다. 수출액과 중량 모두 동기간 기준 역대 최대치다.

참기름 수출은 2024년(1천301만 달러) 20.3%, 작년(1천668만 달러) 28.2% 등 2년 연속 두 자릿수 성장세를 보이고 있는데, 올해도 가파른 증가세가 이어지는 모습이다.

국가별로는 미국이 전체 수출의 41.7%를 차지해 최대 수출국 자리를 유지했다. 이어 캐나다(9.6%), 대만(7.6%), 호주(7.4%), 네덜란드(5.3%) 순으로 나타났다.

관세청은 최근 수출 확대 배경으로 건강식 수요 증가와 K-푸드 인기를 꼽았다.

해외에서 채식과 건강 중심 식단에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 화학 첨가물을 사용하지 않고 풍미를 살린 참기름 수요도 함께 늘고 있다는 분석이다.
