Melbourne Vixens secured a 62-51 win over West Coast Fever in the Super Netball preliminary final at John Cain Arena, advancing to the grand final against Adelaide Thunderbirds. After a form slump, the Vixens rebounded with a strong team effort, led by Goal Keeper Rudi Ellis’s defensive prowess and Player of the Match Kiera Austin’s 24 goals at 92% accuracy. Ellis, back in the starting lineup, effectively countered Fever’s Romelda Aiken-George, contributing three gains, five deflections, and impacting the opposition’s morale. The Vixens’ win was also attributed to the impactful play of Zara Walters at wing attack and Captain Kate Moloney’s flawless performance with zero turnovers.

The Fever’s season ended with disappointment, despite a late surge, as their slow start and high turnover count under pressure proved insurmountable. Coach Dan Ryan reflected on the team’s resilience amid injuries but acknowledged the Vixens’ superior execution.

The Vixens, seeking their first consecutive title, will host the grand final due to a pre-season sponsorship agreement, giving them a significant home advantage. Coach Di Honey expressed pride in her team’s rediscovered form and looks forward to strategizing for the final.
