Mohamed Salah Transfer Saga: Fenerbahçe Enter Race as Liverpool Star Eyes European Stay

Mohamed Salah's anticipated departure from Liverpool this summer has taken an unexpected turn with Fenerbahçe entering the race for the Egyptian superstar, potentially derailing what had appeared to be a straightforward move to the Saudi Pro League.

The 33-year-old forward, who has confirmed his nine-year spell at Anfield will end when his contract expires, has held two meetings with the Turkish club as he explores his options. According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Fenerbahçe representative Ertan Torunoğulları has been directly involved in discussions with Salah's agent.

During those talks, Salah is reported to have outlined salary expectations of around £333,000 per week, which aligns closely with his current earnings at Liverpool and would place him among the highest-paid players in Europe. The same report indicates Salah is seeking an annual salary of approximately €20 million and has made clear that he wants to continue his career in Europe rather than leave the continent at this stage.

A third round of talks had been scheduled following Fenerbahçe's recent derby against Galatasaray, but negotiations were paused due to a club election decision, leaving the situation open but active.

Fenerbahçe, based in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul and founded in 1907, remains one of Türkiye's most prominent and widely supported clubs.
