A July survey by Echelon Insights shows 62% of U.S. mothers disapprove of President Trump's job performance, a 6-point increase from July of the previous year, with 59% viewing him unfavorably.

Mothers in the United States are turning on President Donald Trump, with a growing number disapproving of the job he’s doing, according to a new poll.

Approximately 62 percent of women with children under the age of 18 said they disapprove of Trump’s handling of his job, according to a July survey from the research institute Echelon Insights.

That’s a six percentage-point increase compared to results from the same poll in July of the previous year. The survey, of 1,004 voters across the U.S., also found that 59 percent of moms view Trump unfavorably – a three-point increase from last year. Dads appear more supportive of Trump.

The trends, identified by Echelon, appear consistent with other Trump approval rating polls that indicate the public has become less supportive of the president since the start of his second term.

“No other President in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump,” White House Spokesperson Davis Ingle told Newsweek.

Ingle, who has repeated the sentiment various times over the last few months, has cited job growth, cooling inflation and housing affordability as examples of Trump’s work for Americans.

When asked about Trump’s specific policies, mothers appeared more disgruntled with the president’s handling of immigration, foreign affairs and the economy.

Mothers, who generally do more grocery shopping and cooking than fathers, may have firsthand experience with higher food and gas prices as a result of the president’s war with Iran.

Moms who are part of specific groups, such as those in the Make America Healthy Again movement, expressed support for Trump during the 2024 presidential election. But now, some say they feel abandoned by the administration that promised to crack down on over-processed foods and unnecessary chemical ingredients.

“We thought we were getting a different administration that wanted to stand up to special interests, stand up to the pharmaceutical industry, stand up to the food companies, stand up to Big Ag, Big Chem. And that is not what we got,” Vani Hari, a leader in the MAHA movement, told Politico in June.

Kelly Ryerson, a MAHA influencer, told Politico that those who liked Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “aren’t going to show up” at the polls for Trump.

Others, such as those who voted for Trump because he promised to be the “father of fertility” and expand fertility treatment access to more people, have found his results disappointing.

Earlier this year, the administration introduced a rule proposal for employer-based insurance plans to cover some infertility treatment

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine called the proposal “a draft” and said it would “not yet fulfill that promise” from Trump to expand fertility treatments.

Açık Sorular

  • What specific actions will the administration take regarding food regulation?
  • Will the proposed fertility treatment rule be finalized and expanded?
  • How will this disapproval trend among mothers impact future elections?
