Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: AI Will Create More Jobs, Not Destroy Them

Hızlı Bakış

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that concerns about AI destroying jobs are "false," arguing that AI tools will create more jobs by increasing efficiency and demand for new skills, citing examples in radiology and software engineering.

Concerns are growing that artificial intelligence will lead to widespread job losses. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang addressed these concerns during an interview at Stanford University.

Yazı boyutu

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has pushed back against growing concerns that artificial intelligence will destroy jobs, saying the idea is “false,” adding “software engineers are busier than ever”. Speaking during a recent interview at Stanford University, the Nvidia chief said AI is changing the nature of work but not necessarily eliminating the need for workers. Huang argued that AI tools are helping people work faster and at a larger scale, while also creating demand for new ideas and skills. He used examples from healthcare and software engineering to explain why he believes AI will create more jobs over time instead of reducing them. “First of all, I think the narratives of AI, destroying jobs, is not going to help America,” Huang said. “It's just, it's false.”

Jensen Huang explains how AI resulted in more radiologists

During the interview, Huang referred to a prediction made years ago by one of the pioneers of AI, who had claimed radiology would become obsolete because AI would automate medical scan reading. According to Huang, AI did transform radiology exactly as predicted. “The part that was exactly opposite is the number of radiologists increased,” Huang said. He explained that while AI automated many tasks, hospitals were able to handle more patients, perform more scans and improve healthcare services, which increased demand for radiologists. “We need more radiologists than ever, and we don't have enough,” he added.

‘Software engineers are busier than ever’

Jensen Huang said the same trend is now happening in software engineering. “Somebody said that AI is going to destroy all of the software engineering jobs,” he said. “Well, as it turns out, we now have agentic AI inside Nvidia. It's everywhere, every single software engineer is using it.” According to Huang, developers who know how to work with AI systems are becoming more valuable inside companies. “The software engineers that know how to use AI, know how to use agentic systems, working with agentic systems are the most popular and the most successful,” he said. Huang also said AI tools are helping engineers finish coding tasks much faster, which has increased pressure to create more products and ideas. He explained that earlier, engineers spent most of their time writing code manually. Now, AI can generate code quickly, allowing teams to move faster and take on bigger projects. “Now we have an idea, it takes no time to code. Now, all of a sudden, the company is waiting for you for the next idea,” Huang said.

Jensen Huang says AI may create more jobs overall

Huang acknowledged that some jobs may still be affected by automation, especially roles where tasks rarely change. However, he said technological revolutions historically create new kinds of work. “My belief is, we're gonna create more jobs in the end,” Huang said. “There'll be more people working at the end of this industrial revolution than at the beginning of it.”
