ただ府議団は「日本一スリムな議会」を掲げており、2025年10月の人口を基に6減を適用した場合、議員1人当たりの人口が約12万人になると試算。東京都の11万2000人程度を上回り、目標を達成できるとしている。
府議会の定数は11年に109から88になり、22年には現在の79になった。
幹部によると、人口が多い選挙区の方が定数が少ない「逆転現象」が起きていたといい、定数を増やさずに解消を目指すと73が最適になるという。維新関係者によると、大阪市大正区・西成区選挙区（定数2）や枚方市選挙区（定数4）などが削減対象として検討されている。
府議団は25日の会合で「最もスリムな議会の議員定数を実現すべきだ」などとする方針を再度確認。和田賢治幹事長は「（方針の）達成と逆転現象の解消に向けて見直しを図っていく」と述べた。【面川美栄、井手千夏】
